CAA & NRC Crisis: Further Division of India inevitable – Prof. Engr. Zamir Ahmed Awan

International, Issue

The biased Citizenship Act passed in India has laid the foundation for further division of India. The widespread agitations and condemnation at the national level as well as the International level have shown the worst reaction. In fact, it is an over-all reaction of extremist Hindu atrocities since last few decades against the Minorities.
The History of hate against minorities goes back to the early 1920s when some extremist Hindus agitated against Western Colonialization and simultaneously demanding to turn India into a pure Hindu extremist state. They were demanding that Christians should go back to Europe and Muslims should go back to the Arab world, and leave India only for Hindus. There should be no space in India for non-Hindus.
The Hindu extremists were in small groups and small organizations, rather scattered and unorganized, having no big impact and were ignored by the rest of the world. Moreover, the anti-colonialization movement has gained more momentum and extremist Hindus were under the shadow.
Even after getting independence from British rule in 1947, the extremist Hindus kept on the demand of the Pure Hindu state and denied the rights of minorities. After independence, they got more organized and penetrated into the educational system of India and spreading hate against all minorities. Then they also penetrated into Government services, especially in civil services and climbed to top positions. But in the last few decades, their presence in Police, Judiciary, Education, and District Administration were more visible. When they penetrated into media, the visibility of extremists was more obvious.
Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) has provided a platform to unite all extremists’ parties and groups. It was a political platform for Hindu extremists to achieve their goal of turning India into a pure Hindu state. In 2014, Prime Minister Modi got the vote based on hate against Minorities. He himself was a fanatic and has been denied the US visa on the basis of his alleged involvement in Muslim Massacres in 2002 in Gujrat, where he was Chief Minister at that time. He was also involved in the destruction of centuries-old Babri Mosque on the 6th December, 1992. But the BJP gained only a simple majority in the election and faced difficulties in amending the constitution, where opposition was strong and can reject any illogical changes in the constitution.
But the April 2019 Elections gave a chance to BJP to form an absolute Majority Government, where they can change the Indian constitution easily. Prime Minister Modi after winning the second term, did exercise his long wished agenda implemented. The first thing he revoked the Indian constitution, and violated UN charter and bilateral agreements, and changed the status of Kashmir, deployed one million troops to siege 8 million Kashmiris, imposed a curfew on 5th of August 2019. It is the largest curfew in the history of human beings where 8 million people are under siege for almost 140 days.
The extremist BJP has influence the Supreme Court of India to give a biased decision on a long-pending dispute of the Babri Mosque. But the Citizenship Act amendment has back-fired and minorities as well as progressive Hindus have stood up and rejected such discriminatory laws. The amendment is to harm Muslims and de-bar them to avail of Indian Nationality.
The history of Muslims in India goes back to one thousand years almost, where Muslims have ruled India for almost 800 years. Muslims have built India and under their rule, India became “Golden Bird” and was contributing almost 34% to the global economy. Most of the ancient buildings were built by Muslims, which are top tourist attractions for tourists from all over the world, the most important is the “Taj Mahal”. Muslims constructed a huge network of roads and infrastructure to unite the whole India. Muslims contributed to Science, technology and the economic uplift of India. Muslims were the architect of Modern India. The Muslims living in India have a long history and they are the descendants and lining in India for generations and generations. They are true Indians and are contributing to the modern-day life in India. Their role in the modernization of India cannot be denied today.
There are around 250 million Muslims in India, however, the Government propaganda is on 15%. They carry weight and cannot be marginalized anymore. They have already pushed toward the wall and no further space left for them. They have forced to stand-up and now this can lead to further division of India. 250 million Muslims need a separate country, where they can live their life freely according to their own traditions and customs. 150 Million Sikhs also demand their own independent state. Naga land and many other insurgencies are matured to get independence.
In view of this scenario, one can foresee further division of India, for which Hindu extremists are to be blamed only.
