Recent verdict on 6th September 2018 of Indian Supreme court announced by Justice Deepak Misra quoting: “I am what I am, so take me as I am”decriminalizing gay marriage have become the mooted topic for few days in the world, especially in south Asia as India is the first Asian country (28th in the world) of legitimizing homosexual activities through a movement of Laws affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender and intersex communities (LGBTI) movement. Through this verdict Indian supreme court repealed section 377 of the Indian penal court in which Homosexual activities remained ban for 160 years in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia,and other former colonies. Such activities were proscribed by British parliament in 1860 as “unnatural offence”.
Oxford Dictionary defines that Homosexuality is the sexual attraction or the tendency to direct sexual desire toward another of the same sex. Homosexuality, sexual interest in and attraction to members of one’s own sex (Britanica.com) Male homosexuals are referred as Gay and females are as Lesbians.
History:
At different times and in different cultures, homosexual behavior has been variously approved of, tolerated, punished, and banned. People of ancient Rome and Greece used to involve in homosexual activities. A verse of the Holy Quran mentions the Community of Prophet Lut (A.S.) as the first community of being absorbed in homosexual activities referring Lut’s Quote: “”Do you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds?.” (Ankabut 29:28) Prophet Lut (A.S.) was the nephew of Prophet Ibrahim AS (probably 1813-1644 BCE).
Provision of homosexuality in different countries:
Netherlands is first country of legalizing homosexual activities in April 2008 and India has been added as 28th country in this list. The Netherlands, Belgium, Canada, Spain, South Africa, Norway, Sweden, Argentina, Iceland, Portugal, Denmark, Brazil, England, Wales, France, Uruguay, New Zealand, Luxemburg, Scotland, Finland, Green Land, Ireland, United States, Colombia Australia, Germany, Malta, and India are the countries where homosexual activities become decriminalized successively. There are 71 countries where homosexuality is illegal by laws, 7 countries (including Iran, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Yemen, Nigeria, and Iraq) those implement death penalty for same-sex activities, and 5 countries (including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Qatar, UAE and Mauritania) where the death is in law but not carried out.
Homosexuals’ arguments
The LGBTI organization has been struggling for many years for establishing homosexual activities as the legitimate around the world. Both homosexuals and some non-homosexuals desire these as legal activities by the government.
They assert ban on such activities as “interference on one’s personnel rights.” Their main logic behind struggling for Gay marriage or Lesbian marriage rights is that the government of a country has no right to restrict and constraint its citizen’s sexual aspirations. A citizen needs to get the right of doing whatever he/she desires if such intends are not derogative for that country. Homosexuality is a personnel matter that is performed by two same sex typed persons and apparently it doesn’t effect on a country.
Validity of such arguments
Legitimizing all personnel rights of citizens may badly affect a country as all of the citizens have lots of different aspirations many of those are collectively detrimental to that country. There are some personnel activities those are remained ban in those due to harmful effects on the involved individuals. Some of these individual factors are: – Producing and watching pornography, Selling and buying drugs, bestiality (sexual activities with animal), Driving motorbike without wearing helmet, driving car without seat bell, and passing road not using zebra-crossing and over bridge, Public masturbation, Abortion and so on. The aforementioned activities are the personal business of the individuals. But these are still banned in many of the countries those legitimate homosexual activities despite homosexuality is more harmful than many of these personnel matters. These countries legitimate such activities just to present themselves as liberal in spite of horrific effect of these activities. Logic of homosexuals is that it is a natural that a person gets from his/her birth that is totally different from scientific research. Any scientist could not prove such activity as natural. “Decades of scientific research have failed to find ‘gay gene’ or a sole biological cause for same-sex attraction. The American Psychological Association, the American Psychiatric Association and even gay researchers recognize that homosexuality cannot be reduced to biology alone. Instead, they acknowledge that social factors seem to play a key role in the development of homosexuality. No evidence suggests that it is natural for some people to be born as gay” (Alen Shlemon).

Impact of Homosexuality
Homosexuals become less interested to opposite sex gradually due to their increased involvement to such activity that resulted in the bereaving of many potential souls in the earth from born and the society becomes deprived of their significant service. That collectively impacts the whole country even in the whole world. Legalizing this activity encourages other members of the state who are not much interested in this and the negative impacts will be epidemically diffused all over the country. Legalizing homosexuality undoubtedly will inspire children to be accustomed to involvement in sexual activities from earlier of their life.
Homosexuality causes lots of dangerous diseases resulting expensive treatment and no cure exists for some of these diseases. A homosexual newspaper of USA, New York Blade News conceded: – “Reports at a national conference about sexually transmitted diseases indicate that gay men are in the highest risk group for several of the most serious diseases ….Scientists believe that increased number of sexually transmitted diseases (STD) cases in the result of an increase in risky sexual practices by a growing number of gay man who believe HIV is no longer a life-Threatening illness.” Homosexuality is much more responsible for AIDS than heterosexuality: – “In a large CDC study, conducted in sexually transmitted disease (STD) clinics in five major U.S. cities, researchers found the rate of HIV infection among men who have sex with men (MSM) to be nine times higher than among women and heterosexual men. According to other CDC research, a number of Factors contribute to high rate of infection among MSM, including psychological problems like depression and illicit drug use, age of sexual partners, and low rates of HIV testing among young MSM, particularly African Americans.”
Homosexuals and other sexually transmitted disease are:
Human Papilloma virus (HPV): It is a collection of more than seventy types of virus that can cause warts, papilloma on various parts of the body. More than twenty types of HPV are incurable that is almost universal among homosexuals. HPV causes anal cancer and cervical cancer also.
Hepatitis: This is a potentially fatal liver disease that increases the risk of liver cancer. Outbreaks of hepatitis A, B, and C among men who have sex with men are a recurring problem in many large cities in industrialized world.

Gonorrhea: This is an inflammatory disease of the genital tract. Gonorrhea traditionally occurs on the genitals, but has recently appeared in the rectal region (as a result of anal sex) and in the throat (as a result of oral sex). CDC stated that “gonorrhea rates in the United States increased by nine percent from 1997 to 1999. We have seen signs that gonorrhea is increasing among gay and bisexual men in a number of U.S. cities.”
Syphilis: This is venereal disease that, if left untreated spread through the body over time, causing serious heart abnormalities, mental disorders, blindness and death. The Archives of International Medicine found that homosexuals acquired syphilis at a rate ten times that of heterosexuals.
Gay Bowel Syndrome (GBS): The Journal of the American Medical Association refers to GBS problems such as proctitis, proctocolitis, and enteritis as “sexually transmitted gastrointestinal syndrome.”
Anal Cancer: Dr. Andrew Grulich calls “the rising rate of anal cancer the next great health threat to homosexual men. The incidence of anal cancer among homosexual with HIV was raised 37-fold compared with the general population.”
A lots other health risks are caused for homosexuality including Kaposi Sarcoma, Hodgkin’s disease, Impairment of Immune Response, surgical and medical problems so on. Homosexuality causes mental health risk also, for instances: Compulsive behavior, alcohol abuse, high incidence of mental health problem reduced life span etc. It creates greater risk of suicide among homosexuals. A study on 3365 high school students published in Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine found: “Gay, lesbians, bisexual, or not sure male students were 6.50 times more likely to report a suicide attempt than heterosexual male students where female were 2.02 times more likely than heterosexual female students.”
Similarly, a recent study found that Lesbian and Gay parenting greatly effect on children’s development in terms of their cognitive development, gender role behavior, gender identity, sexual orientation, social and emotional development and the quality of parent-child relationship. In case of economy, a study conducted in USA in 2000 found that the total estimated burden of the nine million new cases of these STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) that occurred among 15-24- olds in 2000 was $6.5 billion in year. Viral STD accounted for 94% of the total burden ($6.2 billion), and non-viral STDs accounted for 6% of the total burden. Such estimation indicates the economic loss created because of homosexuality. From religious perspective, Homosexuality is regarded as a great sin in Islam. Allah (SWT) destroyed a whole nation (Community of Prophet Lut) for being involved in such notorious activity. The destruction of the community of Prophet Lut for homosexuality described in several verses of the holy Quran (Araf 7:80-84, Suara 26:165-66, Naml 27:54-58, and Ankabut 29:28-34). The Catholic Christians and Jewish consider homosexuality as a great sin as the creator determine certain resolutions for fulfilling human sexual aspirations those are violated through conducting homosexuality. Provision of homosexuality is not much clear in Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism as in Islam, Christianity and Judaism.
Sexual transmission is a great deleterious to family, society, country, person’s health, economic development and even greatly prohibited in major religions as we have seen above of the article. So making it legitimate only for sexual longing of a little group of people despite lots negative impacts will verily affect the country in the above mentioned sector that will evolve an immoral and mentally sick generation.
